AAFCS Student Unit Awards

Get recognized! The Student Unit Awards Program is a great way to recognize those who make the AAFCS Student Unit a success!

Applications must be postmarked by March 11, 2010. Preference will be given to nominees/chapters who are able to attend the AAFCS 101st Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, in June 2010.

Links to each application are below, followed by a brief description of the award. Questions regarding awards should be directed to Taylor Barczyk, second vice chair, at TaylorBarczyk@gmail.com.

  • Student of the Year: The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding junior, senior, or graduate student Student Unit members who display high character, outstanding achievement in academics and activities, deep interest in the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences, and promise for continuing these exemplary qualities as new professionals and active members.  Each affiliate may nominate a maximum of two candidates for the award.
  • Community Service Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Student Unit campus chapter or affiliate that has developed and coordinated outstanding community service project(s). Submission of pictures documenting the project is a plus. 
  • Outstanding Advisor: The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Student Unit advisor at the campus chapter or affiliate level who continually demonstrates a commitment to mentoring Student Unit members.  Each affiliate may nominate a maximum of two candidates for the award. 
  • Progress Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Student Unit campus chapter or affiliate that is diligently working to rebuild and/or create an active Student Unit. 
  • Standard of Exellence: The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Student Unit campus chapter or affiliate that consistently strives for excellence.
